What is ARV…After Repair Value?

ARV, or after-repair value, is the estimated value of a property after completed renovations, not in its current condition. ARV is used as a way to gauge the worth of a fixer-upper property, including how much it can be bought, and then resold for after repairs.

(Purchase Price) + (Value From Renovations) = After Repair Value

When you add the cost of purchasing a property to the cost of rehabbing a property the total of these two costs must not exceed seventy percent of the After Repair Value (ARV) of the subject property. This is the minimum acceptable ratio. The less money you have in purchase and rehab costs relative to ARV the better.
