Trading and Real Estate: An Ideal Combination

In the latest episode of the Fueling Deals podcast, I interviewed Markus Heitkoetter about his work as an expert in the area of short-term and day trading, and why it works so well when paired with real estate investing.

Markus utilizes both real estate investing and trading to grow his wealth, alongside his role in operating his business. The fact that he came to the United States with just $20,000 to invest and managed to become a multi-millionaire truly speaks to his wisdom, skill, and experience in the realm of short-term trading.

On this episode of Real Estate Investing for Professional Men and Women, Markus explains why trading is a very viable method for growing wealth as part of a greater portfolio that includes real estate investments. There is no better source to learn trading from than Markus Heitkoetter, so I hope you enjoy the episode and can absorb his wisdom.

Why Trading?

Markus identified early on that there are really only three viable methods of generating true wealth in our economy. You could run a successful business, and if you’re listening to this podcast then I think we can assume that you’ve already taken this step. You can also invest in real estate, and that’s probably the reason you’re listening to my show.

But there’s a third option, and that’s trading in stocks, bonds, options, commodities, etc. Trading works hand-in-hand with your real estate portfolio, and it’s always a good idea to diversify your investments. And trading offers benefits different from the ones you get from real estate, so the two compliment each other well.

The Benefits of Trading

Trading is a great option for short-term investing. With real estate, you often have to sink time into your investment under a buy-and-hold strategy, and that’s great for investing large sums over a long period. But real estate doesn’t offer the flexible time frame that trading does. After all, even if your real estate plans involve fix-and-flip, you’re still looking at a couple of months at best. With trading, you can hold your investment for as little as a day before exiting and potentially making some exciting profits.

Additionally, trading offers another advantage that you won’t find very often in real estate. With certain strategies, trading can make you money even when the market is crashing. Now that isn’t to say that trading is a guaranteed way to make money (after all, investing always involves risk no matter what anyone tells you). But having the option of playing both sides of the market is a powerful strategy, and there are methods to help you minimize your risks and increase your odds on the gamble. A great way to get involved with trading would be to visit Markus’s website www.rockwelltrading.com and take him up on his offer of a free digital copy of his book, The Complete Guide to Day Trading.
